Construction

Rainbow was built with a one design construction method, hand laid up, using appropriate layers of matte, cloth and woven roving with resin. The hull has Airex foam core and the decks are cord in balsa. The superstructure is of the same type of construction. There is a non skid pattern on the deck surface. There are transverse bulkheads, intermittent framing and longitudinal stringers along with the deck to hull joint that gives the vessel its rigidity and stiffness. This sailboat is a unique in its design and styling. There is a hard chine and a spray rail like on a power boat. It goes into a V hull and the propeller is tucked away in a Prop pocket. The vessel is a modern designed  Fin keel with a skeg hung rudder and a raked bow.
