The Bertram 390 Convertible combined the classic elements of a Bertram sportfishing machine with the curvaceous, Ferretti inspired styling common to all of Bertram’s more recent product introductions. While her sleek styling was a departure from earlier, more conservative Bertram models, the deep-V hull of the 390 is pure Bertram—a stretched version of the company’s popular 37 Convertible hull with a stepped sheer, moderate beam, and a large fishing cockpit. The high-gloss cherry (or teak) interior of the 390 features a particularly comfortable salon with a dinette forward, a notable feature in a boat this size. The galley is on the midlevel between the salon and staterooms, and the guest cabin is fitted with side-by-side berths rather than the over/under bunks so often found in guest staterooms. Topside, the helm is on the centerline and the console has plenty of space for electronics. Additional features include cockpit access to the engine room (where a single fuel tank forward of the engines consumes a lot of space), overhead rod storage in the salon, and wide side decks. A quality yacht, twin 480hp Volvo V-drive diesels cruise the Bertram 390 Convertible at 24-25 knots (about 30 knots top).
